JERRY LASKY

Mr. Lasky is the President and Chairman of Spectrum Real Estate, which was founded with Mr. Murray Peretz in 1990. Spectrum is a full-service real estate firm specializing in office and residential lofts. Spectrum’s affiliate, Merger Industries, was founded by Messrs. Peretz and Lasky in 1986. Merger is a full-service, general contractor and construction consultant, specializing in large-scale, loft renovation projects. Mr. Lasky currently serves as the secretary and treasurer of Merger.

Mr. Lasky has been active in the development of the River North area of Chicago for over 30 years. From 1979 to 1985, prior to founding Merger and Spectrum, Mr. Lasky was a practicing real estate attorney for the law firm of Rudnick & Wolfe, located in Chicago, Illinois. During this time, Mr. Lasky was responsible for the representation of firm and individual clients in residential, and commercial real estate, both locally and nationally, including representation of the acquisition of several River North warehouses in the early 1980s and their conversion into office lofts. In 1985 he also syndicated several real estate and hospitality limited partnerships.

Mr. Lasky graduated in 1976 from Ohio Wesleyan University (Phi Beta Kappa) and received his J.D. from the University of Illinois in 1979, where he served on the Law Review. He also taught Business Law at the University of Illinois. Currently, Mr. Lasky is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and The American Bar Association.

MURRAY PERETZ

Mr. Peretz is a founding principal of Spectrum Real Estate and currently serves as President of Merger Industries, which he founded with Jerry Lasky in 1986. Mr. Peretz has been active in River North development for over 30 years. Mr. Peretz was formerly Senior Vice President and the developing force of Perman Construction Company (an affiliate of Goodman Realty Group), and directed all of Goodman Realty Group’s development and construction activities, including the construction of new shopping centers to the renovation of existing shopping centers and loft buildings into modern offices. Mr. Peretz was responsible for the construction and development of many River North original warehouse-to-office conversions in the late 1970s and the early 1980s, including the Central Arts Building, 730 Franklin, and 414 N. Orleans, Orleans Plaza, which the Chicago Sun-Times called the “Renovation of the Year.” Mr. Peretz is a graduate of Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois in 1975, where he was Phi Beta Kappa.
